ESDM takes advantage of the neuroplasticity of a child’s brain during the early years of life. By engaging your child in a wide range of fun activities, their motivation to attend and respond to others in their environment can increase. ESDM encourages building positive relationships and learning through natural daily activities focused on communication, social, cognitive, play, motor and personal independence skills. ESDM is a naturalistic, developmental-behavioural intervention (NDBI) that is progressive with easily trackable steps.
Who it's for...
This therapy is shown to be the most effective for children aged 1y to 6y who have been diagnosed with Autism, Global Developmental Delay or those without a diagnosis but show social communication challenges.
What to Expect
Your ESDM practitioner will prepare age-appropriate toys and activities tailored to your child’s interests and goals and designed to facilitate communication and social interaction. Parents are encouraged to become active participants to assist in integrating your child’s daily activities and routines at home.
Part of an individualised therapy program
ESDM is part of your Individualised Therapy program, and it can be delivered at home or in-clinic within a 1 to 1 session.
